- I live in a State with mandatory emissions testing.
Will Stage One make my SVX fail emissions tests?
We have never heard of an instance where Stage One has
caused an SVX to fail an emissions test. We know of
cases where our software has been used on vehicles which
have been emissions tested and in every case they passed
with flying colors; however, this is not guaranteed and
our products are sold as
performance equipment for off-road use.
- How long does Stage One take to install? The
average installation time may vary quite a bit depending
on your familiarity with the SVX, whether the nuts
retaining the ECU are finger tight or wrench tight,
whether you intend to install the switch, and your own
mechanical ability. Installation time can
be as little as ten minutes on up to several hours.
- Is Stage One hard to Install? Can I install it
myself? Stage One can be easily installed by
almost anyone. It ships with
an 8 page
instruction manual with detailed step by step
instructions walking you thru the installation process.
- What is included with Stage One? Stage one
includes the "Subaru Memory Adaptor +N2O control" loaded
with the Stage One performance code and the 87 octane
code, the wire to connect to a spst switch, a grommet
for running the wire out of the ecu, fender badges, and an 8 page
instruction manual.
- Is the spst switch included with Stage One?
No. We have not included a switch with Stage One
as the shape and size of the switch you will want will
vary with the mounting location you choose. A spst
switch is readily available from any electronics
components supplier including Radio Shack.
- Do I have to install the switch if I don't want to
use the 87 octane code? No. The Stage One
performance code is loaded into the default memory
location. If you don't want to use the 87 octane
code the memory adaptor can be installed without
bothering with connecting it to anything but the ECU.
- Does Stage One effect dealer diagnostic equipment?
No. Stage One is invisible to and communicates
correctly with all dealer diagnostic equipment.
- Will Stage One work on a non-US market SVX?
On some non-US market SVX's the calibration of the
atmospheric pressure sensor does not match our software
and causes a check engine light to be displayed.
On other non-US market SVX's this problem has not been
seen. We unfortunately do not have the
information necessary to identify which non-US market
SVX's are fully compatible and which are not.
- Stage 1 richens the air to fuel ratio, can I further
increase performance by boosting fuel pressure?
No, boosting fuel pressure to further richen the AFR
results in excessively rich intake mixtures at high RPMs
and causes a power loss instead of further gains.
- If I buy Stage 1 now and upgrade to Stage 2 later is
there a discount? Yes.
- What if the Stage One code is updated, will I have
to buy it again? The SVX Stage One code will
continue to be developed and refined and future updates
will be made available for a small fee.
